Password requirements and recommendations

Password requirements and recommendations

Your password is your account's first line of defense. As such, it's important that you select a strong combination of letters, numbers, and special characters to combat hackers.

When setting up your account, you're required to use the following:

  • At least 8 characters
  • At least one small letter
  • At least one capital letter
  • At least one number
  • At least one special character !@#$%^&*

But you don't have to end there. There are other ways to fortify your password, such as using multiple numbers and special characters, mixing up upper and lower case letters throughout the password, and using more than 8 characters.

What Are the Reasons for Invalid Google 2FA Code

What Are the Reasons for Invalid Google 2FA Code?

The "Invalid Google 2FA Code" error shows up whenever the code from the Google authenticator app does not match or is incorrect. There are several reasons why this might happen:

  • Incorrect code: You may have mistyped the code or entered the wrong digits. Double-check the code you're entering and make sure they match.
  • Code Expiration: Google 2FA codes are typically time-sensitive and are usually valid for 30 seconds. The code may expire if you take too long to enter it, causing the system to reject it. Wait for the new code and enter it promptly.
  • Incorrect time settings: Google 2FA relies on the correct time and date settings on your mobile device and the server. If there's a time discrepancy between the two, the generated codes might not match. Time zone differences could cause this problem, especially if you travel. The code will likely return the error if the time on your device does not match the time on Google's servers. Change your device time to automatic and sync your Google Authenticator app.
  • Device change: If you've recently switched to a new mobile device and set up Google 2FA on it, the old codes generated on the previous device will likely no longer work. Use the codes from your new mobile phone.

How to Enable Two-factor Authentication on Kyrrex

You can upgrade the security of your Kyrrex account by enabling 2-factor authentication with Google Authenticator or another trusted app.

The steps in this tutorial are based on Google Authenticator. If you use a different authenticator app, the steps are the same.

1. Log Into your account and go to Account > Settings.

2. Switch to the 2FA tab.

3. You will see a QR code and a manual code.

4. Open Google Authenticator on your device. To create an account, click ‘+’ and scan the QR code.

If you choose the option to manually add the code, enter an account name (e.g., Kyrrex) and paste the 16-digit secret key in the field provided.

5. The app will generate a 6-digit one-time password. Copy it and paste it in the "Enter the password from Google Authenticator" field.

6. You will be notified that 2FA activation on your account was successful. You will also receive an email confirming 2FA has been added to your account.

The Google 2FA codes will now be required whenever you log in, withdraw or change critical account settings. If any of the above steps fail, or if you happen to see any error notifications returned, please contact support@kyrrex.com and describe the error in as much detail as possible.

2-step-verification

What is 2-Step Verification

Two-Step verification adds a second layer of security to your Kyrrex account. This can help you protect your funds when an attacker somehow gains access to your login information and tries to make withdrawals from your account.

It provides a buffer between an attacker and withdrawal confirmations, password changes, API key creation, and logins by using a Time-based One-time Password Algorithm (TOTP) and HMAC-based One-time Password Algorithm (HOTP) for authenticating users.

Popular authenticator programs generate a 6-to-8-digit one-time password which users must provide in addition to their username and password to log into Kyrrex and modify services or security settings, and confirm transactions.
